Our mission

What class should I attend; Beginner or Open Level?

If you have never done yoga before, try a Beginner class, which focuses on the basic poses.  After you’re comfortable with the basics, feel free to attend Open Level classes. Open Level classes are usually more physically & mentally challenging, but still accommodate most skills levels. Really up for a challenge?  Ask your instructor if you’re ready for an Advanced class.

What should I wear to class?

Bare feet & comfortable clothing. Form fitting clothing is best because it shows alignment & allows for a full range of motion. Please avoid use of perfume or other scented products. Also, avoid wearing heavy lotions before class - it can make your mat seem a bit slippery.

What should I bring to class?

A great attitude is all you need. It is recommended to bring your own yoga mat, but if you don’t have one, we have one you can use. Also, feel free to bring a water bottle to class.

How early should I arrive?

The studio is open 15 minutes prior to class.  It is advised that you get there early so that you’re not starting the class feeling rushed.  Classes are 90 minutes long & start on time.  As a courtesy to your instructor & fellow classmates, be prompt & stay for the duration of the class.  If you happen to arrive after class is already in session, come in the back door & be very quiet upon joining the class.

Should I eat before going to class?

A light snack is ok, but you really don’t want to eat 2 hours prior to class.  Also, drink a lot of water before and after class, it’s important to stay hydrated.

Anything else I should or shouldn't do?

Yes, thanks for asking. Please remove your shoes immediately upon entering the yoga studio. Also, if you have had a recent surgery, injury, or pain, please advise your instructor at the beginning of class.

How long will it take me to be "good" at yoga?

Yoga is for anyone and everyone. There is no competition involved & no trophy awarded at the end. You do yoga for yourself. The most advanced yogi is not always the strongest, most flexible person in class, it's the person who knows their limits & can stay true to their practice. You will see an increase in strength, balance & flexibility by coming to class 2-3 times a week. The more yoga you do the bigger change you will see.
